Jiangsu Shipping College (hereinafter referred to as college) is a full-time college of higher learning approved by the Government of Jiangsu Province. Founded in 1960, the college is attached to the Transpo rtation Department of Jiangsu Province. College is located in Nantong, a livable garden city in the Yangtze River delta area. Adhering to the o rientation of serve local based on transpo rtation an d facing the Nation an d going to the wo rld, the college sets up majo rs closely focusing on the national development strategies such as the integration of  transpo rtation, ocean, shipping an d Yangtza River Delta. It has fo rmed a professional layout with the majo rs of water transpo rtation as the main body, the majo rs of road an d aviation transpo rtation as the suppo rting. At present, it owns four key construction majo rs in national backbone Vocational College, nine national key specialties, three nationwide transpo rtation demonstration specialty locations an d two key specialties suppo rted by central finance to improve the development ability of professional service industry. an d it has already become one of the unique in the National Higher Vocational Colleges.

Jiangsu Shipping College covers an area of nearly 1000 mu, with a building area of mo re than 360000 square meters.There are 6 national vocational education training bases, 14 provincial vocational education training bases an d 3 Nantong key labo rato ries. The college has 13 provincial an d municipal science ＆ technology service institutions, such as Jiangsu Ship Engineering Technology Research ＆ Development Center. There are mo re than 40 campus training bases an d mo re than 200 off campus internship an d employment bases. 3 production teaching practice ships named Ocean Boat, Changyang Gate an d Changchun Gate are built in cooperation with enterprises.

The college has nearly 12000 students in full-time education an d mo re than 3700 students in adult education.There are 7 schools with 40 majo rs, including Navigation ,Marine Engineering,Naval Architecture an d Ocean Engineering,Transpo rtation Management an d Economics,Transpo rtation 　Engineering,Intelligent Manufacturing an d Info rmation Technology,Arts an d Humanities. In addition, there are two public teaching units including School of Marxism an d Department of Liberal Studies.The college has established an Education Quality Management System in acco rdance with ISO9001:2015 quality stan dard. Mo reover, the training quality management system has passed the certification audit of det No rske Veritas.

The college now has 468 full-time teachers, 60 of whom are senio r professional titles,accounting fo r  50% of the teaching staff. The propo rtion of people with master's degree o r above is 75.2%, an d the propo rtion of double-qualified teachers is 81.8.%.
