外语系现有教学、行政人员61人，其中教授2人，副教授14人，讲师40人。具有博士学位的7人，硕士学位的48人，硕士以上学历的教师占教师总人数的90.2%，已经形成一支年龄、学历、职称结构合理、教学、科研水平较强的师资队伍。

　　外语系现设有5个教研室即英语专业基础教研室、英语专业高年级教研室、大学英语教研室、高职英语教研室和专业英语教研室，并且拥有先进、齐全的语言教学设备。

　　外语系设置的本科英语专业和高职英语专业，基于培养区域性的、有较强实际应用能力和职业技术能力的复合性、高素质和实用型技术人才的目标定位，依托学院的主干专业，以法律和商务为方向，以区域人才市场发展需求为导向，体现出了鲜明的优势和特色，以及良好的就业前景。

　　A Brief Introduction to Foreign Languages Department （FLD）， SHUPL

　　FLD has a faculty of 61 staff members， including 2 professors， 14 associate professors and 40 lecturers. There are 7 academic staff with a doctorate degree and 48 with a master’s degree. They both account for 9% of the total staff members. The structure of the FLD faculty force in terms of age， academic qualifications and professional status is relatively rational and their academic and research performance has proved competitive.

　　FLD has 5 academic sections， i.e. English Major Elementary Stage Section， English Major Advanced Stage Section，College English section ， Higher Technical Diploma Section and Subject-based English Section.

FLD aims to prepare qualified personnel who have prescribed professional skills and capabilities based on market-oriented and regional requirements. FLD will combine the main branches of learning in SHUPL， i.e. law and business， to gear up the all–round competence of students and strive to provide them with a good career prospect.

　　培养目标：本专业培养德、智、体全面发展，具有必需的现代文化科学基础知识，适应我国社会主义市场经济建设发展需要，有较强实际应用能力，复合型、高素质的实用型人才。

　　专业主要课程：基础英语、高级英语、英语听力、英语口语、英语视听说、英语国家概况、英语写作、口译、英语报刊选读、跨文化交际、词汇学、西方文化入门、翻译理论与实践、语言学概论、英国文学、美国文学、法律英语、第二外语。

　　主要实践性教学环节：军事技能、认识实习、专业实习、毕业实习、毕业论文等。
