1983年6月毕业于武汉大学化学系高分子专业，获理学学士学位；1986年毕业于湖北省化学研究院，获理学硕士学位；2007年在华中科技大学获工学博士学位。1993-1994、2000-2001年分别在意大利热那亚大学、巴勒莫大学进修和作访问学者，2001年1月被评聘为教授，享受国务院政府特殊津贴，是湖北省有突出贡献中青年专家，入选湖北省新世纪高层次人才第二层次人选。主持和完成了国家自然科学基金、意大利 - 中国大学国际合作项目、湖北省自然科学基金重点项目、武汉市科技攻关等项目 20 余项；申请发明专利 10 项，授权发明、实用新型专利四项，发表第一作者或通信作者研究论文 50 余篇， SCI 、 EI 检索论文 22 篇次；鉴定成果 7 项。
